Writer Spotlight: One Month In Reflections
As of Jan 31st, I have read and reviewed 62 short pieces by five different authors!!
R.K. Duncan (13 short stories/flash, 1 essay)
Annika Barranti Klein (14 short stories/flash)
Koji A. Dae (12 short stories/flash, 2 poems)
Effie Seiberg (14 short stories/flash)
Renan Bernardo (Will be posted on Feb 4th)
I truly enjoyed reading all these authors. They each had such a unique style and such wonderful stories. If you want to read my favorites from each: here you go!
R.K. Duncan: “Reminiscences on the Death of Gemal the Sorcerer”
Annika Barranti Klein: “A Touch of Magic”
Koji A. Dae: “The Uncurling of the Samsara”
Effie Seiberg: “The Travel Guide to the Dimension of Lost Things”
Energy Transparency
I thought it would be a good idea to do a monthly check-in on my energy levels. Full transparency, going at this pace may become unrealistic at some point. I’ve gotta say though, writing reviews for others like this is energizing in a way I never thought it would be. It feels amazing to know that I’m lifting up other writers!
So . . . I have had less time to write my own novel/submit my own stories/etc. But in a weird way this is also forcing me to focus better, so that I get more done faster on my own work. I’m currently about halfway done with Act 1 of my third novel in my Transplanted Trilogy. (Yep this is a shameless plug lol).
I really would love to keep this blog series going for at least a full year. I believe I’ll try another month at this pace, and I’ll check in again March 1 and see if it’s still feasible. (Regardless, I will continue doing this review blog, even if I have to dial it back a bit. I just probably won’t do 14 per week).
And Now! A Sneak Peak
For February, I plan to review:
Renan Bernardo
Dee Holloway
Alex S. Garcia
Elijah Mears
